16 Months

Can he already be 16 months?!? Wesley learned a lot over the last month and is looking/acting more like a toddler. He is very independent and likes to figure things out on his own. However luckily for me he still has his moments when he wants to sit on my lap and cuddle. Normally those moments are decided by him of course :) .

Over the last month Wesley started:

  • Signs "more". He now does it whenever he wants food it's so funny.
  • Throws tantrums when he doesn't get his way.
  • Has an extremely fake cry that I cannot even give any attention to or it'll get worse.
  • Loves giving hugs and runs up to me several times a day and squeezes my legs.
  • We swear we have heard him say "love you" a few times.
  • Is obsessed with anything that has a steering wheel (cars, at the park, those strollers at the mall that we have never rented but he always finds one at the play place).
  • Loves shutting doors.
  • Wakes up so happy in the morning and ready to play... he has LOTS of energy

Here are some pictures I snapped on my phone last month

Wesley's announcement

We found out Christmas eve that we would be adding a member to our family! I had my 12 week appointment today and heard a strong heart beat. We feel so blessed and cannot wait to find out if our baby is a brother or a sister! My due date is August 24th.

Birthday trip

My parents had me fly to Utah for my birthday. It was so nice being there with so much family. Especially since Phil is so busy during this time of the year. Heather, Brittany, Chris and Jack spent the weekend with us.  We had so much fun playing games, shopping, going out to eat, and then we had a family party for my birthday. We got to play with Ashley and Charlotte a few times while my parents were at work. Wesley liked having a friend to play with! We also got to attend my darling cousin Sages drill team regional competition. Wesley had a blast. He clapped, danced and cheered with us- it was so cute. We had a fun trip and cannot wait to visit in February.

 Cute cousins

I love Jack Jack

The only picture we have together. And of course my hair is doing something crazy.

Charlotte and Wesley got these backpacks while we were at the mall. They wanted to wear them all around.

We tried to corral them with these ottomans at the mall. Unfortunately Wes realized he could push them and escape.

Wes loved going on the train with Papa

15 Months

Wesley turned 15 months the beginning of January. He is looking more and more like a toddler and less like a baby (sad). Looking back at his newborn pictures it's hard to believe he was ever that small!

His stats:
23 lb 11.2 oz (35%)
31" long (42%)

We got a new pediatrician this month and are so glad we switched. We had many reasons why we didn't love our last pediatrician one being this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkiVa3Yd0a0 Just watch it.. yes she was our pediatrician. Once we found this we realized why she doesn't have enough time to help her patients.

back to Wesley...

He started walking about around 14.5 months but really had it down by 15 months. Walking has opened up a whole new world for him. He quickly realized that he could get into a lot more things by walking. This kid has a lot of energy.

Some other things about him:
  • Claps his hands (cutest thing ever)
  • Gives hugs if you ask either "can I have a hug/ can I have a love"
  • Loves books. I often find him sitting in his room flipping through books. He especially loves when Phil is home to read to him before bed.
  • Favorite foods are: Grapes, apples, green beans, chicken salad sandwiches, pasta, cheese, yogurt, I could go on..
  • Is very independent and hates when I try to feed him things (he has to do it himself)
  • Figured out that the wooden (colored) shape sorting blocks he got for his birthday can make colors on the wall. Yeah this is not awesome.
  • Decided he hates diaper changes and cries almost every time I change him
  • Signs for milk and all done
  • Jabbers all day and gets frustrated that I don't know what he is saying
  • Could sit at his little table and play with his cars and little people all day
  • Loves being outside
  • Loves peek a boo and will cover his face with his hands, blankets, books, just about anything to place
  • Still obsessed with Rosie, poor door
  • Could stay in the bath all day
  • Is such a sweet boy and will give me lots of cuddles throughout the day
Loves "helping" with dishes

I made cupcakes for my young women and Wes was eyeing them all day. I caved and let him have one. He was in heaven.

Out to eat with Grandma and Grandpa Decker

At a friends house. He refused to sit in the high chair. He wanted to sit with the big kids.

Christmas break activities

Phil had 2 weeks off from work over Christmas. This year we decided to just stay home. It was so nice having all that time together. We got a lot done and took 3 trips to goodwill. We also had lots of time to play. We are so glad we had all this family time before Phil started his busy season.

We thought it would be fun to go to the zoo. We had hoped Wes would nap in the car on our way there but we weren't so lucky. So the day started like this..

And quickly (like 20 minutes later) changed to this...

Nothing would console him.. NOTHING. so we packed up and went home.

Wesley loved having his Dad home everyday. They got all dressed up to support the Cougars on day.

We went to the park with Phil's parents and Wesley had a blast.

Wes also enjoyed all the errands we ran together.

I couldn't have asked for a better break with my favorite men. Well it would've been nice to stay longer at the zoo.. but hey that's life :)
