19 and 20 months

I guess I missed posting about Wesley at 19 months and now that he is 20 months I guess I'll just combine them. Wesley has been learning a lot over the past few months. He has been talking a lot more and we are able to understand more words daily. Wesley is a busy boy and is always getting into something. He is such a goof ball and keeps us on our toes. I love my sweet boy.

Some new things he has learned over the past few months:

  • New animal sounds include dog, fish, snake and coyote
  • New words include duck, grandma (said mmmmMA), thank you, hold (when he wants to be held), movie (said moie), and lots of other words we haven't been able to translate yet :)
  • Holds up one finger when he wants "one more" or to do something again
  • Loves the pool and thinks he can swim (yeah right buddy)
  • Blows kisses
  • Started jumping and it's so cute. We went to story time 2 months ago at the library and the teacher was having them jump. He has been determined to figure it out since and is pretty proud of himself when he gets both feet in the air.
  • Loves using his signs to get what he wants/needs. He uses "please" and "more" for just about everything.
  • His newest signs are bird, fish, and dog. He started doing bird at the beach and does dog when he wants Rosie to join him on the couch.
  • Is still obsessed with cars. And almost anytime we let him pick a movie he'll pick Cars or Cars 2
  • Refuses to sleep in his new big boy bed. He loves his crib... we are still figuring out what to do since baby will be her in 2 months!
  • Gets so excited when Grandma Decker comes to pick him up. He starts waving good-bye to me as soon as she walks in the door.
  • Loves spinning in circles and does it when he is really excited
  • Is getting really good at building towers with the over-sized legos
  • Loves talking on the phone- especially to Grandma and Papa Ewell and Auntie Heather. Anytime I am on the phone with them he grabs it and runs away so he can talk in private
  • Dances whenever I put music on. He does this move where he bends his knees and rocks in place- it's pretty cute.
  • Is obsessed with letters of the alphabet. He thinks all letters (including wooden decorations) are his and wants to play with them. He lines his foam letters up on the tub wall and points at each giving each a name or sound. He knows A, C, E, and W pretty well. Sometimes he'll get stuck on a sound or letter and calls every letter E or C. I love that he is excited by learning.
  • Has a pretty good throwing arm for a 20 month old and loves throwing his balls down the hall way. He also enjoys throwing Rosie's toys for her to play catch.
  • Always has a bump or bruise (this kid plays HARD)
  • Loves kids... he follows the big kids around as if he was one of them. They are so sweet to him and always let him join in.
  • Favorite foods include: yogurt, noodles, brown rice with any sauce (loves curry), green beans, pears, smoothies, pretzels... he really will try just about anything but definitely has opinions about what he wants to eat.
  • Since starting nursery he has discovered a love for fruit snacks. He'll take me to the pantry multiple times a day to try to get a pack.

It's amazing how fast toddlers grow and learn. I know there is more I could add but this post is already long enough. We sure love our happy, busy boy.

Wes has started to notice my growing belly (who couldn't) one day while watching a movie he reached over and put his hand on my belly. Baby boy started kicking like crazy and Wes thought it was so cool.

The following pictures are proof that this crazy busy boy slows down once in a while. He gets to watch one show a day and that is when mommy gets a little rest too.

We build lots of towers throughout the day.

Swimming with friends

Love this boy!
