Tomorrow is our 2 year anniversary. I can't believe how fast these 2 years have gone. Phil's parent's had a fun dinner for us tonight to celebrate! They are so sweet to us, thanks for the fun night Mom and Bob.

I want to be back on the ship

Phil and I went on a week long cruise to Grand Cayman and Jamaica last week. Neither of us had ever been on a cruise before but we have been talking about going on one since we got engaged. We had so much fun and will cruise again (who knows when that will be). Here is a list of some of our favorite things about the cruise.
  • Being able to relax
  • Sun bathing
  • Finally finishing books we've wanted to read
  • Beautiful beaches
  • The Ocean view from our room
  • Being disconnected (no cell phones, Internet, work..) speaking of work maybe we will transfer to Cayman Islands.. Phil had no idea PwC was there.
  • Our fun steward who left us creative towel animals and always had a joke to crack when we saw him. We laughed so much when we opened the door and saw an elephant wearing my sunglasses.. I can see him cracking up when he did this.
  • Being together and not feeling like we have to get something done = the best
Of course we enjoyed a lot more about our cruise but I don't want to bore you. We definitely recommend going to Cayman Island. It was beautiful, clean, and a very nice island. We want to go back sometime and stay there for a week so we can see more and do more. Jamaica was a bit scary and I found out after we got back that there are better areas than the one we ported in. I didn't like everyone being in my face asking me to buy stuff or come into their store. The beaches were very beautiful there but we even had guys swim in the Ocean trying to sell us necklaces and drugs. It was odd but a fun experience.

Phil took this picture of me while this man was trying to sell me drugs.. I look so confused and I want to scream "Phil save me!"

Hurricane preparedness

Before we left for our cruise last week we stopped at the Ready Houston (hurricane preparedness) convention. Hurricane season has started already and we are so glad we went. We got lots of valuable information and some fun freebies (flashlights, batteries, glow in the dark magnets, etc. ) Hopefully we won't get hit with a hurricane this year but if we do we will be prepared. The Church we are members of had a great booth set up with handouts about food storage. If you are interested in learning about what you need to build a strong home storage go here. Follow the links to read about 3 month supplies, drinking water, and longer-term supply has great information on product recommendations, packing recommendations, and storage conditions.

Proof I finished

Phil and I flew to Utah last week for my graduation. While I sat through commencement I actually got emotional. I felt like a huge weight had been lifted. It feels so good to be done. I guess I should find a job now. I've loved being home with my puppy but it will be good to start a job and get out of the house more.

We had so much fun in Utah and the trip didn't seem long enough. Hopefully we will be out there soon. Sorry to those we did not get to see. We still love you and hope to see you next time.

Cute kids

Here is a glimpse of the fun we had when the Whettens came in town. We miss you guys already! Caleb (sitting next to Phil on the left) gets baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Saturday and we are so proud of him.

I leave for Utah tomorrow and Phil will fly out on Thursday. I cannot wait to see my family and friends. Also, I am so excited to graduate on Friday, it'll be a good day!
